The Sentiero Massimiliano is one of the most spectacular routes on the Sciliar plateau: a long equipped ridge that connects the Bolzano Mountain Hut to the Denti di Terrarossa, crossing airy terrain and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Alpe di Siusi and the surrounding Dolomites.
From the hut, follow trail no. 4, which crosses the plateau toward the western ridge of Cima di Terrarossa. The approach is easy and well marked, ideal for warming up before the more technical section of the route.
The ascent along the ridge quickly leads to the summit of Cima di Terrarossa (2,656 m), a privileged viewpoint over the entire massif. From here, the route descends to the saddle, aided by short stretches of steel cable, and continues along an airy crest to a second col at 2,580 m.
The ferrata then climbs toward the Grande Dente di Terrarossa (2,653 m), where the landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic. After crossing the summit, the path descends steadily until it reaches the Alpe di Tires Hut (2,441 m), nestled between the rocky walls of the Denti and the Catinaccio.
