Vandoies: sport holidays in Val di Fundres

The municipality of Vandoies is located between valle del Rienza and Val di Fundres, where Valle Isarco meets Val Pusteria. Due to the beauty of its landscape, this area has always been beloved by trekking lovers: the green meadows and the thick woods in the valleys, the sunny plateaus and the imposing peaks with their powerful glaciers and the beautiful mountain lakes.

The ancient farmhouses and refuges in the area are a real attraction: for example the refuge Ponte di Ghiaccio Hut, dating back 1908, an ideal starting point for wonderful hikes in this wild and unpolluted valley. For the most expert and best-trained, loving the height, the high route Alta Via di Fundres is undoubtedly the best way to discover and fully appreciate the beauties hidden in the landscape, with a six-day-itinerary taking from Vipiteno to Falzes.

An easier but pleasant hike takes to the beautiful Vandoies waterfalls, in the environs of the village, whereas mountaineers can put their ability into the test climbing the Gran Pilastro, the highest peak of the valley.
Furthermore, the village is crossed by the cycle track Pista ciclabile della Val Pusteria, connecting San Candido to Rio di Pusteria.

While having a rest after a hike, why not discovering the art and culture of this small village visiting the Loden Museum, allowing to discover the history and the manufacturing techniques of this strong textile, and the Parish church of Annunciation, with frescoes of the famous painter Josef Anton Zoller?
