Val di Fiemme: skiing, kids, hikes and events
The Val di Fiemme valley offers many entertainment programs to children and countless activities for adults ranging from skiing to international Nordic skiing events, hikes, food and wine.
There are also special programs designed for disabled. Lying at the foot of the Dolomites, the Val di Fiemme valley, with its eleven picturesque villages, stretches in East Trentino between the Latemar Group and the Pale di San Martino Group, between the Lagorai Range and the Corno Mountain, protected by the nature reserves of the Parco Naturale di Paneveggio and the Corno Mountain.
A renowned resort among the most beautiful of Trentino, here you can practice Alpine skiing and Nordic skiing even at an advanced level during events like the Marcialonga, a long distance cross-country skiing competition in winter and a running and cycling competition in summer, the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships on the Tesero Lake, the Ski World Cup, the Trofeo Topolino...
In winter the most practiced sport is without a doubt skiing, since the valley offers a lot of snow with 5 ski areas connected by one ski pass: Ski Center Latemar, Alpe Cermis, Bellamonte-Alpe Lusia, Lavazè Pass-Oclini Pass and Rolle Pass. Here everyone can choose their style: traditional, carving, snowboarding, telemark, cross-country, freeride and ski mountaineering.
Surrounded by red fir forests, the Val di Fiemme valley is the perfect place to practice snow-walking and snowshoeing under the light of the moon. The fun is guaranteed also for those who like extreme sports like climbing ice walls or climbing walls, or for those who prefer swimming and skating in state of the art facilities.
Disabled can practice their favorite sports on the ski runs thanks to special lift facilities and equipments. A lot of attention is given to smaller guests, who have a lot of opportunities to have fun and learn in the many recreation centers: adventure parks, kindergarten and ski kindergarten, high altitude fun on the Alpine Coaster in Predazzo, a snowboard park with sledge slopes and snow tubing slopes, the magic land of Cermislandia and funny and educational entertainment programs. Here winter means also traditions and events like "Tesero e i suoi presepi" (Tesero and its cribs), "I processi alle streghe" (the Cavalese Witch Trials), or the Matoci Carnival in Valfloriana.
Hiking, trekking and events
In summer you can practice a lot of activities surrounded by nature: a walk along the geological path or to the giant trees, a relaxed and easy stroll or a challenging climb. If you want to admire the most beautiful mountains in the world you can choose among two wonderful routes: the Trek of the Legends and the Trekking del Cristo Pensante (Trek of the Thinking Jesus). Moreover, you have at your disposal the 10 trails of "Sentieri Vivi", where a palm gps will guide you during your hikes.
If you love Nordic walking and light exercises, the Fiemme Vitality Park invites you to regenerate yourself walking in the forests, practicing yoga and the Tibetan Walk.
You can explore the whole valley on your mountain bike: there are more than 200 km of cycle paths and dirt tracks, some along the old railway, winding among the villages of the valley floor and the forests of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, a unique type of local government created to protect and preserve the environmental heritage of this area, like the Forest of Violins of Paneveggio, the wood of which was used to make the famous Stradivari violins and is still used now to produce musical instruments. In addition: climbing, horseback riding, hang gliding and paragliding, sport fishing on the Tesero Lake or on the Avisio stream, rafting and leisure centers, you only have to choose!
The catalogue describes Val di Fiemme both in summer and in winter. The so-called 'gate of the Dolomites' includes the most beautiful fir forests in the Alps and lies between the Paneveggio-Pale di S.Martino and Monte Corno Nature Parks. It is particularly suitable for families, since it offers many activities in nature and discovering animals, but also for sportsmen, especially Nordic walking, trekking, bike and ski lovers: in fact, in winter it offers as much as 100 km Dolomiti Superski slopes.
