Laion: a peaceful corner in Valle Isarco
The small and quiet village of Laion lies at the entrance of Val Gardena, between Chiusa and Bolzano, and is the ideal destination for those wanting to spend a relax holiday with the wonderful South Tyrolean Alps in the background, among pastures, woods and vineyards. Furthermore, its privileged position at 1100 meters of height offers an excellent panoramic view over the Valle Isarco.
In Laion there are plenty of trekking opportunities. One of the most beautiful hike is the Post path, taking to Ortisei, from which you can admire the imposing Sella and Sassolungo groups. Don't forget that in winter this area offers excellent cross-country trails.
Between Laion and Ponte Gardena you can find the Maso Vogelweider, the farmhouse where the famous medieval poet Walther von der Vogelweide is thought to be born. We also suggest you a visit to the World of wood-carving, unique in South Tyrol, where you can discover the history of this activity and observe the masters at work.
