Vallagarina Wine and Flavor Route

The Vallagarina Wine and Flavor Route is a route of over 200 km to discover vineyards and cultivated fields of the last stretch of the Adige Valley, south of Trento. In this area benefited by a climate marked by the meeting of the Alps with the plain and protected by Lake Garda, was born the first Wine and Flavors Road recognized in Trentino.

The main product of this area is the Marzemino, a native gentle red wine. History has it that this wine was one of the most appreciated wines at the Habsburg court, where it is said that Mozart himself enjoyed it. Tradition has it that the composer became aware of this drink when in 1769 he held his first Italian concert in Rovereto, the main center of Vallagarina. Mozart gave great fame to the Lagarino wine by making his Don Giovanni quote the following passage: "pour the wine, excellent Marzemino!"

Also from this area are also Enantio, a wine also known as Lambrusco with a jagged leaf, whose name seems to derive from Pliny who in the first century A.D. named it oenanthium; Merlot Trentino, produced between Nomi and Aldeno, where, among other things, the Merlot d'Italia Exhibition is held annually; and Moscato Giallo, cultivated especially in the surroundings of Besenello.

But also the Marrone di Castione, the organic vegetables of the Val di Gresta and the cheeses produced in the huts on the Brentonico Plateau.
