Albino Luciani Museum

A fascinating 15th-century building in the heart of Canale d'Agordo's main square, houses the Albino Luciani Museum, known as MUSAL, which pays homage to Pope John Paul I, who was born in this ancient historical and religious centre in 1912.

Canale d'Agordo is nestled in the centre of the Biois Valley, the “Valley of the Saints at the Windows”, so called because of the many religious-themed paaintings scattered in the narrow streets of its villages.

The MUSAL, passionately managed by the Papa Luciani Onlus Foundation, is spread over four floors and offers a multi-sensorial experiential itinerary that allows visitors to discover the life, teachings, works and historical context of Pope Luciani

Through immersive installations, the museum also recounts the vicissitudes of other prominent personalities in the artistic, cultural and religious fields, offering an immersive and emotionally rich experience.

In addition, visitors have the opportunity to take part in a guided tour of the historical centre of Canale D'Agordo, upon request, to discover the most evocative corners of Pope Luciani's hometown, such as his Birthplace, the main square of 16th-century origin, the first Dairy Cooperative in Italy dating back to 1872, the splendid Casa delle Regole, a building dating back to 1640, and the Church of San Giovanni Battista, a place steeped in history and spirituality, which perfectly completes this experience of discovery and reflection.
