Starting and ending point: parking area at Spëscia Farm (1,536 m) in La Valle/Wengen Refreshment point: La Crusc / Santa Croce mountain inn
An easy hike at the foot of the impressive rock faces of the Sas dla Crusc group, crossing the woods and the flowering Armentara Meadows. The trail runs mostly through the Fanes–Senes–Braies Nature Park. At the base of the Piza dales Diesc, not far from the path, lies the “Snow Cave”, a natural cavity carved into the snow by a stream in spring as the large snow masses melt.
From the parking area, follow trail no. 13/A towards Fanes. At the junction with trail no. 15, continue left, still on 13/A, until reaching Ćiamplorët (30 min). At the fork, turn right onto trail no. 15/B, following the signs for La Crusc / Santa Croce. The path climbs through a forest and then across a vast expanse of mountain pine, eventually reaching a clearing with large boulders.
Continue through the forest and then across a flat meadow until meeting a forest road. Stay on the trail until the left turn for the Snow Cave (1h40 min). Proceed southwards, first with a gentle ascent and then on a flat stretch, walking beneath the walls of the Sas dla Crusc, before descending to the La Crusc / Santa Croce Sanctuary (2h).
For the return to La Valle/Wengen, follow trail no. 15 northwards across the flowering Armentara Meadows, along the stations of the Way of the Cross, which leads back to the starting point in about 1h30.
