The Strada dei Formaggi e dei Sapori delle Dolomiti Bellunesi was created to promote and enhance the rich dairy tradition of the Belluno area, showcasing its many local cheeses, typical products and the mountain villages that form the cultural identity of this region. The Belluno province is deeply rooted in gastronomic traditions and offers a series of themed itineraries that guide visitors through its traditional cheeses, local food products, organic specialties and Slow Food Presidia.
Among the traditional cheeses of Belluno are Bastardo del Grappa, Busche, Cesio, Morlacco del Grappa and Tosella, mainly produced in the Feltrino area. In Livinallongo, in the Agordino, visitors can discover Fodom, Renaz and Contrin, while the province also boasts Casel Bellunese, Nevegal, Zumelle, and of course the renowned Piave DOP, Schiz, Montasio DOP, and Dolomiti. Ricotta—especially the smoked version—is another key ingredient of local cuisine. The area also offers excellent organic cheeses and the Agordino di malga, a prized Slow Food cheese.
Other gastronomic treasures include the Lamon beans, the distinctive Cesiomaggiore potatoes, the flavorful Alpago lamb, Sponcio corn polenta, the famous Pastin (a seasoned mix of pork and beef), and the rare Pom Prussian apple variety from Sovramonte.
