The Wine and Flavours Route of the Avisiane Hills, Faedo and the Cembra Valley is a varied landscape shaped by the Avisio stream, still wild and unspoilt. Here, villages lie on the boundary between countryside and forest, resting on ancient alluvial deposits. A fascinating example of harmony between humans and nature is represented by the terraced vineyards, wide stepped slopes where the vines have found an ideal habitat — a testament to human ingenuity in taming a rugged environment.
Another distinctive and curious feature of this area is the presence of masi, many of them beautifully restored. These farmsteads bear witness to an ancient phase of Germanic settlement, which reached its peak in the Middle Ages. The pride of the valley is Müller Thurgau, which has found its perfect home in the Cembra Valley. Other important wines include Nosiola, the oldest native white grape of Trentino, and Chardonnay, an excellent base for Trento DOC metodo classico sparkling wine. And of course, one cannot forget grappa, a traditional distillate with deep historical roots.
The area is also known for its typical cured meats: from the dry lucanica sausage of the Cembra Valley to salmistrada or fumada (smoked meat).
Every Thursday, from mid‑June to early September, guided itineraries are organised to explore the most characteristic corners of this land.
