There are many ways to experience the mountains, so why choose the Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna plateaus? Because here you will find a varied and complete offer for all seasons and especially designed around you. Whether you love nature, summer sports and winter sports, or prefer culture and good food, or are followed by a group of children who can't sit still, here you will find the right holiday for you. Moreover, this area hosts many important events, like the "100 km dei Forti" or the "Folgaria Megabike" mountain bike races.
Folgaria, Lavarone and Luserna lie on a 105 sq. km wide plain on the south east of the Trentino region, at an altitude range between 1000 and 2000 m. The plain includes several peaks, like the Cornetto Mountain, the Cimone Mountain, the Cima Campo Mountain and the Cima Vézzena Mountain. This is a sunny plateau to be discovered in every season, where wellness in all its meanings is the watchword. It is a territory of ancient origins, having strong ties with the past. Luserna is an ancient Cymbrian ethnic and linguistic island; Folgaria was once a Magnifica Comunità, a title implying independence, freedom and home rule; and the Lavarone Lake was already famous during the Belle Époque. These tourist resorts still bear the signs left by the First World War, including the seven Austro-Hungarian forts, near which trekking and mountain bike trails have been built, like the "Trekking della Storia", the "100 km dei Forti" trail and the "Fortezze Bike Tour " trail.
Other trekking trails guide you to the discovery of large forests, botanical gardens, biotopes, waterfalls and small tourist attractions like Avez del Prinzep, the biggest silver fir in Europe. The trails range from the easiest ones, suitable to trekkers of every age, to the most difficult ones. Here everyone will find what they are looking for: the European Walking Route E5, the "Attraversata Cimbra", paths marked and maintained by the CAI, the Italian Alpine Club, and 50 tourist itineraries. Moreover, in the Nordic Walking Park there are 17 trails for Nordic walking lovers, while the valley bottoms are the ideal ground to practice orienteering. You can practice swimming, basketball, horseback riding and football in the well equipped sport facilities, hosting in summer national football teams, and you can practice golf in the 9 hole golf course. In summer there are also many important mountain bike race competitions, like the "100 km dei Forti", the "Folgaria Megabike" and the "Gran Bike": events that every professional and amateur biker wouldn't want to miss.
If in summer tourists love this area thanks to the beautiful nature and the chance to practice outdoor sports, in winter Alpine skiers of every level choose it as their holiday destination thanks to the Skitour dei Forti ski resort, with 82 km ski runs, while cross-country skiing lovers meet on the plateaus. If you want to have fun on the snow, besides sledging slopes, snowshoeing trails, winter Nordic walking, snowboarding and ice skating, there are also snowmobile routes for both children and adults, whereas in Lavarone you can test the Speed Control with Subaru cars.
Children are privileged guests. There is a wide offer of exciting activities and entertainment shows especially designed for them: playgrounds, creativity workshops, street entertainment shows, didactic itineraries, archery and aerial acrobatics courses.
Fragrances and flavours allure you into the restaurants to have a taste of the local products, from the Vézzena cheese to the polenta, from the fragrant speck to the mushrooms, from the honey to the Cymbrian cuisine. After a good meal you can visit the museum, the art galleries and the churches. Admire the murals of Guardia, the characteristic painted village, or simply sit on the shores of the lake and think, like Sigmund Freud, who loved these places, used to do.
