Carnival in the Dolomites

It's carnival time! In many places in South Tyrol, Trentino, Belluno and Friuli, this traditional festival is celebrated with masked parades, floats and fun colourful masks. A special occasion to spend a few days in the company of your family and children surrounded by the scenery of the Dolomites. Carnival sweets and typical local specialities, as well as music, games and theatre performances, will be waiting for tourists.

Carnival in South Tyrol

In the Gardena valley resort of Ortisei, the Carnival on skis takes place on 12 February 2023.

In the Vinschgau Valley, in the Stelvio (Stilfserjoch) locality, the Zussl Run is celebrated. The celebration, which takes place on 16 February 2023, is a custom dating back to the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

In Tramin, near Bozen, an ancient historical re-enactment of still unknown origins is celebrated: the Egetmann Parade. Date: 21 February 2023.

Carnival in Trentino

From 17 to 21 February 2023, the Grauno Carnival will be held in Grauno in Val di Cembra. Discover the details of this fun masked festival.

In Val di Fassa, the Ladin Carnival is celebrated from 17th January to 21st February 2023.

Carnival in the Belluno area

The Zinghenesta is a tradition in Canale d'Agordo, in the Belluno area. The Zinghenesta is a female figure, the most beautiful in the village...Next event: 19 February 2023.

It is called the Gnaga, the Carnival of Fornesighe di Zoldo in Val di Zoldo. A procession of wooden, freshly carved masks. The Graga is a curved woman with large hooves who carries her husband in her basket. Appointment: 5 February 2023.

The masquerade of Santa Plonia in Dosoledo, Comelico: a day of festivities dedicated to culture, local Belluno traditions, and folklore. Appointment: 12 February 2023
