Geological and Nature Hike in the Bletterbach Gorge

An interesting and adventurous hike through the gorge of the Bletterbach Geoparc.

This itinerary focuses on nature and, above all, geology. The Bletterbach area, a UNESCO World Heritage natural site, is the ideal place to travel back through Earth’s history while walking inside the canyon carved by the Bletterbach stream.

The trail starts at the Sanctuary of Madonna di Pietralba, one of South Tyrol’s most important pilgrimage destinations. From here, follow trail S to reach the gorge, passing Schmiederalm and Laneralm along the way. For the return, take trail no. 3 leading into the Kösertal Valley, then follow trails E5, 3, 4 and 9 back to the starting point.
