Following the ancient irrigation channels, you reach a charming panoramic viewpoint easily accessible above the village of Naturno. The hike offers magnificent views of the Val Senales, Juval Castle, and the Val Venosta, framed by the typical landscape of Monte Sole.
The route starts in the center of Naturno. Passing along Via dei Campi and Via San Procolo, you reach trail no. 39/91. Following the signs, you arrive at the paved road leading to the Wiedenplatzer Keller restaurant. From here, a relatively steep path surrounded by chestnut trees and sparse woodland climbs for about five minutes to the Wallburgweg.
The trail then continues flat, crossing the access road to the farms and following the slopes of Monte Sole above Naturno. The former irrigation channel path, part of the Merano Water Trails, leads west past the old Waalerhütte hut to the panoramic viewpoint of Wallburgboden. This historic site, with remains of lower and upper fortifications dating back to the Iron Age, still radiates a very special energy.
The return initially follows the same route. At the second junction, following the sign to the Schwalbennest, the path climbs slightly to the refreshment point. After passing the Maurbamhof, the final descent leads along a narrow paved road. Crossing Via Castello and Via dei Campi, you return to the center of Naturno.
