Itinerary in the Vette Feltrine: CAI Trail No. 803

The CAI 803 trail is one of the most characteristic routes of the Vette Feltrine, crossing pristine environments within the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Starting from Presa Sass Bregà (Vignui), the path immediately enters a landscape of deep forests, open clearings and traditional mountain huts, climbing steadily toward the Forcella di Scarnia, the highest point of the hike.

Valle di San Martino: entering the wild heart of the Park

The route begins in the Valle di San Martino, a cool, shaded valley dominated by spruce and beech woods. The trail is well marked and rises gradually, accompanied by the sound of water and the scents of the mountain forest.

Val Fratta and the Ramezza Huts: traditional alpine pastures

Leaving the forest, the landscape opens into Val Fratta, where pastures and old grazing areas appear. The trail reaches:

  • Malga Ramezza Bassa, set in a wide meadow
  • Malga Ramezza Alta, in a more open and panoramic position

These huts preserve the traditional architecture of the Feltrine mountains and offer a glimpse into the area’s pastoral history.

Forcella di Scarnia: the high point of the route

The ascent continues toward Forcella di Scarnia (about 1900 m), where the view opens over the crests of the Vette Feltrine and the surrounding valleys. It is the most scenic section of the hike, ideal for a break and for taking in the Park’s varied landscapes.

Descent to Bivio Scarnion

From the saddle, the trail descends toward Bivio Scarnion, the endpoint of the itinerary. The descent alternates between woodland stretches and open clearings, always following clear and reliable waymarks.
