This spectacular itinerary crosses the entire ridge of the Vette Feltrine, linking Croce d’Aune to Passo Cereda along a route rich in history, nature and high‑altitude scenery. It is a demanding trek, suitable for experienced hikers, following sections of the Alta Via n.2 and the evocative Troi dei Caserin, and crossing some of the most pristine environments of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.
From Croce d’Aune to Rifugio Dal Piaz: the gateway to the Vette Feltrine
The ascent begins at Croce d’Aune, where the trail winds through woods and clearings, reaching Sorafontana and the panoramic Colle dei Cavai. From here, the route continues toward the renowned Rifugio Dal Piaz, a natural balcony overlooking the Busa delle Vette, a unique karst plateau.
Busa delle Vette, Piazza del Diavolo and Sass de Mura: the magic of the Park
Beyond the refuge, the trail enters the heart of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, crossing iconic locations such as:
Busa delle Vette – a vast plateau shaped by glacial and karst phenomena
Piazza del Diavolo – a wild, evocative area protected as an integral reserve
Sasso di Scarnia and the walls of Sass de Mura, along the historic Troi dei Caserin
This section is one of the most fascinating of the entire route, thanks to its variety of landscapes and the strong sense of isolation.
Towards Passo Cereda: mountain huts, saddles and ancient pastures
The trail continues toward Passo Finestra, descends to Malga Nevetta, and climbs again to Pass de Mura, crossing high‑altitude pastures and panoramic hills such as Col dei Bechi and Col del Mul.
It then reaches the Bivacco Feltre W. Bodo, a historic shelter set among the rocks, before tackling the final stretch toward Passo del Comedon and the descent to Passo Cereda.
Recommended variant: the Giazzera
Near Ramezza, a detour leads to the Giazzera, an area of exceptional natural interest, shaped by glacial processes and unique microclimates. A perfect variant for those wishing to enrich the experience with a quieter yet highly evocative section.
