A panoramic itinerary at the foot of the Sassolungo, offering beautiful views over Val Gardena and the surrounding peaks of the Sella, Puez and Odle groups.
The route starts at Passo Sella, near the lift that leads to the Toni Demetz Hut (2,685 m) at the Sassolungo Forcella.
The trail crosses the evocative landscape of the “City of Stones” (a natural labyrinth of large boulders partly covered with grass and moss), then continues across gentle grassy slopes until it reaches the Comici Hut (2,154 m).
From the Comici Hut, the return follows the service path / gravel road that gently descends towards Passo Sella. It is a wide, comfortable and very popular route that leads directly to:
- the parking area at Passo Sella
- or the starting point near the cable car to the Toni Demetz Hut.
The loop closes by returning to Passo Sella without retracing the City of Stones.
