Itineraries 21 - 25: Obereggen, Carezza Lake and Passo Costalonga

Punta Masarè – Roda di Vaèl – Passo Vaiolon – Rifugio Paolina

A spectacular route along the southern ridge of the Catinaccio, ideal for experienced hikers seeking high‑altitude panoramas and equipped sections. From Rifugio Paolina, the trail leads to Rifugio Roda di Vaèl, then climbs toward Punta Masarè along an equipped stretch offering breathtaking views of the Dolomites. The loop continues toward Roda di Vaèl and the scenic Passo Vaiolon, before returning to the starting point. Duration: approx. 5 hours – Best season: June to October – Difficulty: high, alpine experience required.

Oberholz – Forcella dei Camosci – Rifugio Torre di Pisa – Malga Meierl – Oberholz

A high‑mountain hike in the heart of the Latemar, perfect for those who love wild landscapes and unique geological formations. From the upper station of the Oberholz chairlift, the trail climbs to Forcella dei Camosci (also known as Forcella La Mens), a privileged viewpoint over the massif. It then continues to the iconic Rifugio Torre di Pisa, nestled among dramatic Dolomite spires, before descending toward Malga Meierl and returning to Oberholz. Duration: approx. 5 hours – Best season: July to October – Character: high‑altitude route of great geological interest.

Lago di Carezza – Mitterleger – Labyrinth – Prati del Latemar – Passo Costalunga – Lago di Carezza

A charming loop at the foot of the Latemar, winding through fragrant forests, scree slopes and panoramic clearings. From Lago di Carezza, the trail climbs to Mitterleger, then crosses the evocative Labyrinth, a natural maze of boulders shaped by time. The route reaches the Prati del Latemar, where the view opens onto the Dolomite peaks, before returning toward Passo Costalunga and the lake. Duration: 4.5 hours – Best season: June to October – Ideal for: hikers who enjoy varied landscapes and fairy‑tale atmospheres.

Grandhotel Carezza – Pensione Simhild – Belvedere – Queen Elisabeth Monument – Nova Levante

A historical walk dedicated to Empress Sissi, who loved these places for their tranquility and beauty. From the Grandhotel Carezza, the route passes traditional farmsteads and panoramic viewpoints such as the Belvedere, eventually reaching the Queen Elisabeth Monument. The trail then gently descends toward Nova Levante, through meadows, forests and scenic views of the Latemar. Duration: approx. 3 hours – Character: cultural and scenic route suitable for everyone.
