Tures and Aurina Valleys: wellness and sport holidays
Adventure and snow, wellness and a lot of culture: these are the ingredients of a holiday in the Tures and Aurina valleys, the most northern areas of Italy, located behind Brunico and Val Pusteria.
Two valleys for a unique tourist area, offering infinite opportunities to sport lovers. The area boasts as much as 14 peaks which are higher than 3000 m and can be climbed. You can choose among trekking itineraries with alpine guides, hikes reaching the peaks or along the high routes and in the Klausberg and Speikboden ski areas, which turn to an ideal starting point for summer hikes for the whole family. Many paths and themed paths cross the Vedrette di Ries Nature park: for example, the nature experience trail in Campo Tures; the path "The strength of water" in Selva dei Molini, the St. Francis' path and many other itineraries.
If you like adrenaline, there are vie ferrate, practice walls, the adventure itinerary in San Giovanni/Lutago, rafting and canyoning, paragliding for you to be tried.
If you prefer "quieter" activities, you can play golf, bowling, beach volley, football and fish in the rivers and in the artificial lakes of Neves and Caminata; swim or do Nordic walking.
If you like to cycle, take your bike and go: there are 26 bike and mountain-bike itineraries, which can be connected and extended, for a never-ending fun.
In winter, the adventure goes on: the charm of snow is conductive to walks in pure sceneries. The snow is very abundant here, and there are many slopes in the Klausberg, Speikboden and Riva di Tures areas, which are suitable for the most expert, but also for beginners and children. There are also cross-country trails, sledge slopes, ice-climbing walls, and you can also do snowrafting by night or ice-skate. Anyway, the most important winter activity in the area is ski mountaineering, with 47 itineraries.
The valley is also a paradise for children. These young guests can discover the ghosts haunting the imposing Castel Taufers in Campo Tures or do many activities in the Juniorclub or in the Mini Ski Club, where a group of animateurs makes them play. In the Tamarix Family Park in Selva dei Molini children and disabled persons have at their disposal the longest conveyer belt in the world allowing them to discover winter sports.
Culture and wellness are the final elements for a perfect holiday. In a land which was able to preserve all its landscapes, traditions too are handed on and are still alive. A treasure which can be discovered every day in the cooking, in the wood and wool manufacturing and in the numerous museums: the mining museum, the mineral museum, the parochial museum and the crib museum.
If you love culture, don't miss a visit to the mine in Predoi, to the Taufers castle and to the Neumelans residence.
Pure air, relax and wellness center to find back energy and strength, beauty centers, health paths in Rio Bianco and healthy therapies in the gallery for asthmatics in Predoi, the only one in Italy... There is really everything you need!
