The Via Ferrata of the Campanili del Latemar is one of the most spectacular hikes in the Obereggen area: a long but incredibly scenic route that crosses rocky towers, airy saddles and breathtaking Dolomite landscapes. Although classified as an easy via ferrata, it still requires surefootedness, full equipment and solid experience in alpine terrain.
Route
From Obereggen, take the Oberholz chairlift up to the mountain station at 2,100 m. Follow trail no. 18 to the evocative Forcella dei Camosci (2,590 m), the gateway to the heart of the Latemar massif.
Continue along trail no. 516 to the Forcella Forcellone, where the equipped section begins. The ferrata follows trail no. 511, secured with a steel cable, and leads to the summit of the Cimon del Latemar (2,842 m), a natural balcony offering stunning views over the Dolomites.
Descend again along trail 511 to the Bivacco Rigatti, then return toward the Forcella dei Camosci by rejoining trail no. 18. The route continues on trail no. 516 to the Rifugio Torre di Pisa, one of the most iconic spots in the Latemar group.
For the return, follow waymarks 516 and 22 to the Mayrl Alm, then head back to the Oberholz chairlift station.
