The Tesino Arboretum is one of the most fascinating nature walks in the Valsugana: an easy, green‑immersed trail, perfect from March to November and suitable for families, botany enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a relaxing walk in nature.
The starting point is the Arboretum Visitor Centre, reachable from the SS47 by exiting at Strigno (for those coming from Trento) or at Grigno (for those arriving from Bassano). From there, follow the signs for Castello Tesino and Pieve Tesino; once past the village, continue towards Cinte Tesino for about 200 metres until you reach the entrance to the Arboretum.
The area covers 14 hectares, between 800 and 845 metres above sea level, in the locality of Campagnola, in the scenic valley of the Rio Solcena, within the municipalities of Pieve Tesino and Cinte Tesino.
Duration of the route
- Short loop: about 30–40 minutes
- Full loop: 1h–1h30
The duration varies depending on the chosen variant and the number of stops along the way.
An open‑air botanical museum
The trail winds through flower meadows, mixed woodland, wetlands, and natural environments that preserve the original features of the area. The Arboretum hosts:
- native species typical of the Tesino
- exotic plants from Asia and North America
- Japanese maples, ornamental shrubs, and aquatic plants
- a “lost fruits” orchard dedicated to ancient varieties
Along the route you will find information panels, botanical displays, and themed signs that help visitors discover both local flora and introduced species.
A journey through nature and literature
The Arboretum also features a literary trail dedicated to Mario Rigoni Stern: several boards display excerpts from Arboreto Salvatico, creating a poetic dialogue between landscape and words. An experience that blends nature, culture, and the memory of the territory.
