The Fairy‑Tale and Meditation Trail on Monte Elmo, in the heart of the Tre Cime / 3 Zinnen hiking area, is one of the most enchanting themed routes in the Alta Pusteria. The itinerary blends nature, spirituality and local traditions, guiding hikers through quiet forests, panoramic clearings and installations inspired by the legends of the Puster Valley.
The route starts at the Monte Elmo cable‑car mountain station, reachable from both Sesto and Versciaco. From here, follow trail no. 4, which descends gently through larches and spruces to the Baita del Cacciatore (1,820 m), a popular stop known for its traditional cuisine and its view of the Sesto Sundial.
Continuing along trail 4, the path turns left toward the Forest Chapel, a small, peaceful spot nestled among the trees. This is where the true Meditation Trail begins—a particularly quiet section that invites visitors to slow down and listen to the sounds of the forest. Along the way you’ll find themed panels, wooden sculptures and rest areas designed for reflection, features also highlighted by Outdooractive and Sentres.
The trail continues downhill until it reaches the church of Sesto, the endpoint of the itinerary. From here, to return to the lifts, walk for about 1 km to the Sesto – Monte Elmo valley station.
This route is suitable for families and less experienced hikers: the elevation gain is moderate, the path is well maintained and the itinerary offers numerous panoramic viewpoints over the Sesto Dolomites, including Croda Rossa and the Tre Cime.
