Lake Secco

In the wild heart of the Dirupi di Larsèch, Lake Secco appears like a hidden gem — a small mountain pool that, in summer, drains through a natural fissure. It is a fascinating and little‑visited environment, ideal for hikers who love high‑altitude routes immersed in the most authentic nature of the Catinaccio.

From Gardeccia to Lake Secco – Trail 583

Time: 2–2h30

From the Gardeccia basin, follow trail no. 583, crossing the Rio di Soiàl and walking beneath the impressive rock formations of the Campanili di Gardeccia and the Crèpa di Socorda. The route then enters a spectacular gorge dominated by the sheer Pala della Jàcia.

Here the path climbs leftwards toward a short section equipped with metal cables, leading to the Passo delle Scalette — a panoramic saddle suspended between the walls of the Larsèch. Beyond the pass, a brief descent brings you to the evocative Lake Secco.

From Lake Secco to Lake Antermoia

Time: 1h30

Continue along trail no. 583, entering the bright Val di Làusa and reaching the pass of the same name. From here the path descends northward, where the famous Lake Antermoia appears — one of the most iconic places in the Catinaccio. Heading east, you finally reach the Antermoia Hut, perfect for a well‑deserved break at high altitude.
