The Plan de Corones loop tour is one of the most spectacular MTB routes in South Tyrol, circling the region’s number one ski mountain and offering a perfect mix of sport, nature, and alpine culture. The itinerary can be started from any of the villages surrounding the mountain and can be ridden clockwise or counterclockwise, always revealing new perspectives over the Puster Valley and the Gadertal Valley.
The route passes through picturesque villages, panoramic roads, and stretches of untouched nature, alternating demanding climbs with flowing descents. A highlight is the ascent to the Furcia Pass (1,789 m), which rewards cyclists with extraordinary views of the valleys and surrounding peaks. Along the way, numerous alpine huts, cafés, and restaurants invite you to stop and enjoy local specialties.
A recommended itinerary begins in San Vigilio di Marebbe, following the provincial road towards Marebbe, crossing the Furcia Pass, and reaching Valdaora. From the center of Valdaora di Mezzo, turn left onto the paved cycle path, pass the Lamberto Castle, and arrive in Riscone. Continue towards Santo Stefano and San Lorenzo, where an underpass leads to the road to San Martino and Sares. Finally, return to San Vigilio via Pieve di Marebbe, along a beautiful, quiet panoramic road.
The Plan de Corones MTB loop is a complete experience: a sporting challenge combined with the beauty of alpine landscapes and the discovery of villages and gastronomic traditions of South Tyrol.
