Itinerary on the Vette Feltrine: CAI Trail No. 811

The CAI 811 Trail is the official route connecting Lago della Stua with Rifugio Bruno Boz, crossing some of the most scenic areas of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. The entire itinerary lies within the Park, is well signposted, and runs through an untouched natural environment, with sections on forest roads and stretches following an old military track.

From Lago della Stua to Prà di Faibòn

The hike begins on the shores of Lago della Stua (710 m), in the upper part of Val Canzoi. The CAI 811 trail starts along a comfortable forest road, immersed in a cool and bright woodland. The ascent is gradual and leads to the clearing of Prà di Faibòn, a wide grassy plateau that marks the transition to the more alpine section of the route.

Towards Malga Alvis and Passo Alvis

From Prà di Faibòn, the trail becomes steeper as it climbs toward Malga Alvis, a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Cimonega peaks. From here, the 811 continues upward, partly following the line of a historic military road, recognizable by its regular switchbacks and stone retaining walls. The climb reaches its highest point at Passo Alvis (around 1,880 m), an open and panoramic saddle.

Descent to Rifugio Bruno Boz

From the pass, the CAI 811 descends gently toward Rifugio Bruno Boz (1,718 m), positioned on a natural terrace above the Piani Eterni. The refuge is a historic base for exploring the Cimonega group and offers wide, spectacular views.
