Cross-country skiing at the Three Peaks in Alta Pusteria

In the Tre Cime/3 Zinnen area in Alta Pusteria, 200 km of interconnected and free cross-country skiing trails are available, all part of the Dolomiti NordicSki circuit, the largest cross-country skiing carousel in Europe with over 1,300 km of tracks. This area is one of the best equipped in the Alps for practicing the sport: each center – Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco, Villabassa, and Braies – offers a variety of routes, from easy valley trails to more demanding ones at higher altitudes.

The Dobbiaco Nordic Arena is considered one of the most beautiful cross-country centers in Italy. In recent years, it has become a regular venue for World Cup races and the famous Pustertaler Ski Marathon. From the center, three main trails start:

  • Monika (5 km)
  • Nathalie (7.5 km)
  • Albert (10 km), dedicated to Olympic athletes

The trails extend for 120 km and every year host the Dobbiaco–Cortina Granfondo, an international event attracting hundreds of participants. The cross-country stadium is perfect for beginners, while FIS-homologated tracks are often used by international teams for training. Night skiing is also possible, with direct connections to San Candido, Sesto, and Villabassa.

The trails of San Candido and Sesto offer about 70 km of routes, ideal for recreational skiers and those seeking spectacular landscapes. Not to be missed are the enchanting Val Fiscalina and the panoramic trails near the Dolomites of Sesto. The area is connected to the Val di Landro and allows skiers to reach Cortina on skis.

Another important cross-country area is Villabassa and Braies, with trails winding through forests, valleys, and lakes. From Villabassa, it is possible to reach both Dobbiaco and the Braies Valley, further expanding excursion opportunities.
