Christmas Markets in South Tyrol
The Christmas markets of Bolzano, Merano, Brunico, Bressanone and Vipiteno are among the most famous in the Dolomites and the entire Alpine region. Their charming atmosphere, warm lights and local craftsmanship attract visitors from all over Europe, making them an unmissable stop during Advent.
Alongside the five “Original South Tyrol Christmas Markets”, Christmas is celebrated in many other Dolomite destinations: Val Gardena, Val Pusteria – Alta Pusteria, Valle Isarco – Alta Valle Isarco, Val Venosta, Val Martello, Valle di Tures, as well as the areas around Bolzano and Merano. In recent years, popular events such as the Christmas Market at Lake Carezza and Christmas in Castelrotto have been added, ideal for those seeking a more intimate and traditional atmosphere.
Christmas Markets in Trentino
The Christmas markets of Trentino are becoming increasingly popular thanks to their enchanting settings and strong connection to local traditions. The most representative destinations include Trento, Rovereto, Arco, Levico Terme, Pergine Valsugana and Siror, considered one of the oldest markets in the region.
The typical wooden stalls offer handcrafted products, Christmas decorations, traditional sweets, local wines and plenty of gift ideas. In many valleys, such as Val di Fassa, the markets are accompanied by nativity scenes, shows, lights and family-friendly activities, creating a warm and authentic atmosphere throughout the Advent season.
Christmas Markets in the Belluno Area
In the Belluno area, the tradition of Christmas markets is also becoming increasingly established. In the squares of the main towns of the Venetian Dolomites, such as Cortina d’Ampezzo, Auronzo, Misurina and Belluno, wooden chalets become meeting places where visitors can discover local products, traditional crafts and regional delicacies.
Cortina offers an elegant and scenic Christmas market in the heart of its historic centre, while other towns focus on widespread events and more intimate atmospheres, ideal for those wishing to experience an authentic mountain Christmas.
