In peasant life in the past, marriage was an important time for everyone to celebrate together, especially in winter, the resting season of the fields and the people. A ritual with specific gestures and moments that come to life today in the historical reenactment of the traditional peasant wedding celebrated in Castelrotto in January.
During this day you will be able to relive the celebration of a time reconstructed down to the smallest details: the guests are distinguished by their clothing, from the ostrich-feathered hat worn by the ceremony attendant, the older women in a cone hat, the girls dressed in white dresses and the boys in black loden and chenille shirts.
The wedding procession departs from the Church of San Valentino, which will reach the square of Castelrotto where the wedding ceremony is celebrated, accompanied by traditional songs and music, before moving to the restaurant stubes, where you can taste typical dishes such as buckwheat and veal liver dumplings, goulash soup and black rye bread, and krapfen.
