2031 Cycling World Championships: Trentino takes center stage at the rainbow event

29 September 2025

Trentino is preparing to host the 2031 Cycling World Championships, bringing the rainbow event back to Italy 11 years after Imola 2020. It will be a special edition, as – just like in Scotland in 2023 and as it will be in Haute-Savoie in 2027 – titles in all disciplines, except cyclo-cross, will be awarded within one major event held every four years.

The heart of the road races will be Trento, which already staged the 2021 European Championships, with Sonny Colbrelli’s historic victory over Remco Evenepoel. Val di Sole will host the mountain bike events, while the track competitions are expected to take place at the new velodrome in Spresiano, Veneto, currently under construction.

And it doesn’t end with 2031: Italy has also secured two other major events. In 2029, the Cyclo-cross World Championships will take place in Spresiano-Le Bandie (Treviso), while in 2030 Selva di Val Gardena will host the Mountain Bike Marathon Worlds, within the legendary Hero Dolomites.

With Trentino in the spotlight, world cycling is returning to Italy, offering fans and visitors a unique opportunity to experience sport and territory in an outstanding setting.

On our portal dolomiti.it, you’ll find a selection of hotels, B&Bs, and apartments for your stay during the event.
