Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park

The Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park was born in 1974 and constitutes with a portion of Alpe di Siusi (55 km²) the biggest alp of Europe. The most fascinating peaks are Punta Santner and Punta Euringer. In 2003, Catinaccio has taken part of this natural area. From the highest point of the Sciliar Mountain, the Monte Pez at 2,564 meters of height, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Bolzano. Before the peak, you can stop at the famous Rifugio Bolzano. From the Catinaccio Plateau, the mountains views are extraordinary.

While the rocky superior plateau can be visited usually during the summer, the lower valley, such as the Ciamin, can be the object of many outings during late spring and early autumn. The most convenient starting points are: Vols (Fiè), Seis (Siusi), Kastelruth (Castelrotto) and St. Ulrich (Ortisei).

Highlights include the Alpe di Siusi, the Cavone mountain ridge, the "Tourist Trail", the Prossliner Alm, and the nearby Bullaccia mountain with its "witches' chairs".
