The hike from Valdaora to the Lago di Braies begins in Via Aue in Valdaora di Sopra, where you follow trail no. 20.
The ascent, which takes about three hours, leads to the Brunst Alm and continues up to the Kühwiesenkopf / Franz-Josef-Höhe (2,140 m), a panoramic viewpoint offering splendid vistas of the Dolomites.
From here, the descent starts along the same trail, leading directly to the Lago di Braies, one of the most enchanting destinations in South Tyrol.
The return to Valdaora can be easily made using bus and train connections.
For those arriving by car from Bolzano, take the Brenner Motorway (A22) to the Bressanone/Val Pusteria exit, then continue on the SS49-E66 state road for about fifty kilometres to reach Valdaora.
