This circular hike from Montassilone is a true gem for mountain lovers. The route connects three panoramic peaks – Geige, Kor, and Monte Bel Colle – offering breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and the majestic Dolomites.
Starting from the Montassilone parking area, the trail leads toward Tesselbergeralm hut. After a short stretch on a paved road passing the last farms, follow the sign for “Geige”, climbing briefly before turning steeply into the forest just before the final farmhouse.
The path ascends steadily through a dense spruce forest, creating a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. After about 1.5 hours, you reach the tree line and continue to the Geige summit cross, already visible from afar.
From here, trail no. 8 follows a wide, flat ridge, well marked, leading to the Kor summit cross, easily recognizable. The panorama opens onto alpine valleys, Dolomite peaks, and untouched pastures.
Next, the route continues toward Monte Bel Colle, becoming steeper and more exposed, with a short rocky section secured with steel cables for safety. After this passage, the trail flattens out again until reaching the summit cross, offering a spectacular 360° view.
For the descent, follow the marked trail along the ridge toward “Hühnerspiel”. In a short time, you’ll reach the Tesselbergeralm hut, perfect for a refreshing break with local South Tyrolean dishes. From there, a forest road leads back to the starting point.
If desired, you can extend the hike slightly by visiting the less scenic but well-marked Hühnerspiel before descending to the hut.
