The Secret of the Gnomes – The Magical Trail of Tenna

In Tenna, in the peaceful area of Alberé, a charming woodland trail invites children and adults to discover the hidden world of the gnomes. It’s an easy and enjoyable walk, perfect from March to November and ideal for families looking to spend time outdoors.

Starting point

You can park your car just outside the hamlet of Ischia, heading towards Tenna. From the parking area in Alberé, the adventure begins along the Dos dei Osei trail, the gateway to the gnomes’ forest.

Two routes, two adventures

The path is divided into two themed itineraries, designed to make the experience engaging for every age group:

  1. Red Gnome – the shorter route, created especially for children
  2. Green Gnome – the family route, slightly longer but still very easy

The first stretch is flat and accessible to everyone; after about one kilometre, the trail climbs gently into the Alberé pine forest, where the atmosphere becomes even more magical.

Nature, history and views

The walk crosses the north‑western part of the pine forest, passing by the historic roccolo, once used for birdwatching and trapping. Along the way, beautiful views open over Lake Caldonazzo, the Marzola and the Vigolana, offering perfect spots for a scenic break.

A trail that tells a story

Adding to the charm are the book‑stand‑shaped information panels, decorated with comics and illustrations created by the children of Tenna’s primary school. A playful and educational way to explore nature through the eyes of the youngest hikers.
