The Roggia Trail of Gais is an easy and charming route, suitable for families and walkers of all ages, combining nature and local culture.
The trail begins at the parish church of Gais. From there, continue along Via Talfrieden, cross the bridge over the Ahr River, and walk through the houses heading northeast.
After about twenty minutes on foot from the bridge, you reach the forest, where the irrigation channel trail begins. The path runs flat along the wooded slopes towards the south, offering relaxing views and direct contact with the natural environment.
The trail ends north of the Bärentalhof farm, where it joins a wide dirt road. From here, turn right and follow a path that gently descends through meadows and fields, returning to the starting point.
The entire loop takes about one and a half hours, with minimal elevation gain and no technical difficulties.
The trail is also accessible by public transport: from the Mobility Center in Brunico, take bus line 450 to the “Gais Paese” stop.
