From the parking area at Kreuzplon farm, a simple and pleasant walk begins—ideal even when the weather is uncertain. The trail heads to the right and gently climbs to the small Kreuzstöckl chapel, a quiet spot surrounded by forest. From here, a mule track heading north leads toward Rodengo: passing through the rural hamlet of Spisses, you reach the village of Villa, where a visit to the famous Rodengo Castle is highly recommended. The return to Luson follows the same route, offering new views of the valley along the way.
Those wishing to extend the hike can continue a little beyond the castle, where a dirt road descends into the impressive Rienza Gorge. The path leads to the characteristic covered Rundl bridge, near the former power station of Bressanone. After crossing the bridge, the trail climbs toward the chapel of the Rundl farm and then turns left, following a footpath and a forest road that lead to the village of Fiumes. From here, the route continues across fields and meadows, passing through a small biotope, until reaching Naz. From the village square, the trail descends eastward to the bridge, then climbs again to the Niederst farm and returns to the Kreuzplon parking area, completing a loop rich in varied landscapes and authentic rural atmosphere.
The full itinerary takes about 6 hours, with an elevation gain of 650 meters and a total length of 16 kilometers. It is an excellent option for those seeking an easy yet varied walk, surrounded by nature, history, and the relaxing scenery of the Valle Isarco and the surroundings of Luson.
