Cortina d'Ampezzo

An MTB loop that combines the smooth flow of the Cortina–Dobbiaco cycle path with the high‑altitude views of Mount Cristallo, crossing silent forests, old railway stations and steady climbs toward Passo Son Forca. A complete route, ideal for trained riders who want to explore the Ampezzo basin on historic gravel tracks and forest roads.

From the centre of Cortina d’Ampezzo, the ride begins on the cycle path toward Dobbiaco, following the line of the old railway. The smooth surface helps you find your rhythm as you cross woods and clearings, passing the old Fiames station and a short tunnel.

The route continues to the historic Ospitale station, where you leave the cycle path and turn onto a forest road climbing toward Passo Son Forca. The ascent alternates regular stretches with short steeper ramps, but remains fully rideable and immersed in a striking natural setting.

Once at the pass, the view opens onto the Cristallo group and the surrounding valleys. From here, you can reach the nearby Rifugio Son Forca.

A fast descent begins from the pass, leading toward Passo Tre Croci, the road junction connecting Cortina with Lake Misurina. You follow a short section of the SS48, then turn onto secondary roads crossing the hamlets of Grava and Verocai, returning comfortably to Cortina.
