The Belvedere of Villagrande (1,543 m) is one of the most scenic viewpoints in the area, offering a sweeping panorama over the Marmolada, the north‑west face of the Civetta, and the Sassobianco. It is the perfect starting point for a circular hike that blends nature, history, and authentic alpine atmosphere.
From the Belvedere to Colcuc
From the large parking area, follow the direction of the Rucavà junction and take the path on the right towards Colcuc. The ascent is gentle and leads to the small hamlet, known for its traditional wooden barns and rural Ladin architecture.
Through the forest to Larzonei
Beyond Colcuc, the trail enters the forest. At the first fork, keep left and continue towards the charming hamlet of Larzonéi, on the slopes of Col di Lana. Meadows and old farmhouses alternate along the way, creating a peaceful and evocative landscape.
Ruon, Col, and the Rio Pignazza valley
The route continues towards Ruon and Col, crossing a wilder and quieter section. After passing the Rio Pignazza, the trail climbs to Fréina, home to a magnificent centuries‑old larch, one of the natural highlights of the area.
Forzela and trail no. 463
Shortly after Fréina, you reach Forzela, where the route meets trail no. 463. Follow it towards the small hamlets of Canazei and Tie, where the traditional mountain atmosphere is still perfectly preserved.
Return to Brùsa and the Belvedere
After Tie, continue towards Brùsa. Near the antenna, take the road on the right, which leads gently back to the Belvedere, closing the loop with one last panoramic view of the Dolomites.
