A short yet spectacular itinerary that crosses one of the most iconic environments of the Sella Group, moving between vertical walls, rocky terraces and sudden openings onto the wildest Dolomites. The Forcella dei Camosci is a narrow and evocative pass set between the towers of the Sella, reachable via a route suitable for experienced hikers and lovers of high‑altitude terrain.
From the Rifugio Cavazza al Pisciadù, the trail skirts the lake and climbs north‑east, following well‑marked tracks across slabs and scree. The landscape immediately becomes austere and fascinating: a stone plateau shaped by time, where silence is broken only by the wind and the sound of footsteps on the rock.
The path enters a debris‑filled valley leading to the base of the pass. The final ascent, though short, is steep and requires a steady step: a narrow gully leads up to the Forcella dei Camosci, a natural notch that opens like a window over the surrounding valleys. From here, the view stretches toward Passo Gardena, the peaks of the Puez‑Odle and the Sella plateau, offering one of the most striking panoramas of the entire group.
The descent follows the same route, with the option to continue toward Passo Gardena for those wishing to turn the hike into a full traverse.
