This short yet charming loop trail starts in the heart of Fiera di Primiero and unfolds through forests, ancient Roman paths and rural landscapes that reflect the authentic soul of the valley. It’s an ideal route for families, relaxed walkers and anyone wishing to explore the surroundings while fully immersed in nature.
The hike begins in the centre of Fiera di Primiero. After a few hundred metres, you cross the picturesque Vallombrosa Park, a green oasis that gently introduces the first uphill section.
From here, the trail climbs with about 200 metres of elevation gain, passing through Sante Caterine before reaching the paved road that leads to Guastaia, a natural balcony overlooking meadows and traditional mountain farms.
Continuing briefly on asphalt and then on a dirt track, you arrive in Pra ert, north of Mezzano. Here the landscape opens into fields and clearings before descending towards the historic Via Nova, the ancient Roman road that once connected the valley’s settlements.
Following the Via Nova, you return comfortably to the centre of Fiera di Primiero, completing a short loop rich in natural and cultural highlights.
The route can be walked in both directions:
- Right to left: the initial climb is steeper, so it’s best to start at an easy pace.
- Left to right: the descent is steeper, requiring more caution.
In both cases, the trail remains easy and suitable for families, provided you wear good‑grip hiking shoes, especially after rain.
This route is part of the Primiero Dolomiti Marathon, an event that celebrates the valley’s historic and natural trails. A perfect opportunity to discover the area through a short, accessible and nature‑rich itinerary.
