The Val Giovo Panoramic Trail is a medium-difficulty hike starting from Casateia and leading to Val di Mezzo, offering authentic views and a full immersion in the unspoiled nature of South Tyrol.
Itinerary Details
- Starting point: Casateia (970 m), from the “old road to Val Giovo” next to Hotel Anett.
- Follow trail marker 17b, which climbs through the forest up to the Gringgerhof farm (1142 m).
- From here, the path turns right and connects to the upper forest road, becoming the true “panoramic route” with wide-open views of the valley.
- At 1275 m, take trail no. 19, which descends across meadows and connects to trail no. 18, leading directly to the village of Val di Mezzo.
Recommended Variants: from Val di Mezzo, you can continue towards the Gurgl Waterfall and the Ontrattalm alpine hut, adding a charming section with water and alpine pastures.
How to Get There
- By car: From Vipiteno follow the signs to Val Racines / Val Ridanna until you reach Casateia. Parking is available near the cultural center of Casateia.
- By bus: Line 314 (Vipiteno–Val Giovo), stop at Casateia.
