The Gsiesertal Cycle Path

The Gsiesertal cycle path is one of the most scenic routes for leisure cyclists and nature lovers in South Tyrol. The route starts in Monguelfo (Welsberg), right on the right bank of the Gsieser Bach.

After passing Tesido (Taisten) along a forest road, the stream is crossed, and the path continues along the valley’s panoramic road.

Along the way, you’ll pass traditional villages, small hamlets, and natural biotopes. Staying under the dense forest, the route reaches Planca di Sopra (Oberplanken), where the stream is crossed again, and the path continues for about 1 km, always on the right side.

At the hamlet of Preindl, the route briefly follows the provincial road to the Church of the Visitation of Mary, where it rejoins the cycle path. The path continues to San Martino (St. Martin) and, with one last challenging ascent, reaches the valley-end hut of Santa Maddalena (St. Magdalena).

The return journey is along the same route.
