From Nova Ponente, the trail leads to the Sanctuary of Madonna di Pietralba, crossing peaceful meadows and forest paths.
The sanctuary is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in South Tyrol, as shown by the many ex‑votos dedicated to the Madonna delle Grazie and left by devotees over the centuries.
Starting from the parking area near Bar Arche in Nova Ponente, follow trail no. 1, which immediately enters the quiet atmosphere of the Alta Val d’Ega forests. The path climbs gently through clearings and shaded stretches until reaching Malga Laab, an ideal first stop to enjoy traditional South Tyrolean cuisine.
Continue along the same route to Malga Monte San Pietro, known for its vegetarian and vegan dishes, perfect for those seeking a different culinary experience surrounded by nature.
From here, the route follows trail no. 2, leading directly to the Sanctuary of Madonna di Pietralba, one of the most iconic pilgrimage destinations in South Tyrol. The sanctuary preserves numerous ex‑votos and testimonies of devotion collected over the centuries, making the arrival particularly atmospheric.
For the return, follow the European Long‑Distance Trail E5, which leads comfortably back to the starting point through quiet forests and open views over the valley.
