Between 1908 and 1910, Gustav Mahler spent his summer holidays in Dobbiaco, where he found inspiration for his last three orchestral works.
To honor the great composer, since 1981 the town has hosted the annual Gustav Mahler Music Weeks, a cultural event that combines symphonic and chamber concerts, exhibitions, and lectures dedicated to Mahler’s life and music.
Since 1999, the festival has taken place at the Grand Hotel Cultural Centre in Dobbiaco, where the Gustav Mahler Hall welcomes internationally renowned musicians and music lovers from all over the world. It is a small yet prestigious international festival, set against the Dolomite landscape that inspired Mahler — a meeting place for music, research, and artistic interpretation.
