From 9 to 10 January 2027, the five municipalities of the Three Peaks/3 Zinnen area – Dobbiaco, Villabassa, Braies, San Candido and Sesto – will host the 3 Zinnen Ski-Marathon, a historic long-distance cross-country skiing race dedicated to enthusiasts of the discipline.
Originally known as the Pustertaler Ski-Marathon, this race – the oldest and longest in South Tyrol – changed its name on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, adopting the identity of the famous 3 Zinnen area. Despite the passing of time, the event has never lost its charm: every year, over a hundred cross-country skiers compete along a spectacular route immersed in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The courses
The event offers three different races: two courses of 30 km and 60 km in classic technique and a 30 km freestyle (skating) route, providing an experience tailored to every level of ability.
Classic Race (60 + 30 km Classic)
Both routes start in the beautiful Fiscalina Valley in Sesto, right beneath the impressive Sesto Sundial mountain panorama.
The course initially passes through San Candido and Dobbiaco, entering the spectacular Nordic Arena. Shortly after, the group splits: the 60 km route continues towards Cortina, passing the Three Peaks viewpoint and Lake Landro, climbing Val Fonda up to the turnaround point just before Cimabanche. The 30 km route turns right before Lake Dobbiaco, heading directly towards the finish in Villabassa.
Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge (30 km Freestyle)
The race starts in Villabassa, passes the famous Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco, continues to the Three Peaks viewpoint and runs along the scenic Lake Landro.
At Carbonin, the decisive section begins: the climb to Prato Piazza, part of the historic Dolomiti Superbike route. The finish line is at 2,031 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park.
