On the Renon plateau, in the villages of Soprabolzano, Costalovara and Collalbo, the Christmas season brings a nostalgic event: the Trenatale, a Christmas market inspired by the historic Renon Train carriages.
This intimate and cozy Christmas market is far from the hustle of big cities, offering an atmosphere filled with authentic Alpine nostalgia. The stalls feature handcrafted products such as padded cushions, felt slippers, local jams, handmade jewellery, candles, wooden items and other traditional creations.
A rich program of Christmas events includes concerts, musical moments, live nativity scenes and festive activities.
The Renon Christmas Market is spread across three charming locations:
- Soprabolzano, at the Renon Train station square
- Costalovara, at the historic Plattner Farmstead
- Collalbo, in the village center
How to reach the Trenatale
Reaching the Trenatale on the Renon is simple and fast thanks to the Renon cable car and the Renon train.
The Renon Cable Car departs from Via Renon 12 in Bolzano and takes just 12 minutes to reach Soprabolzano, offering a spectacular ride over the city and the Dolomites. Cabins depart every 4 minutes, ensuring a constant flow with no waiting times. Once you arrive at Soprabolzano station, you are immediately immersed in the Christmas atmosphere: the first Trenatale stalls are located right next to the station.
From Soprabolzano, you can easily continue your journey with the Renon Train, which connects Soprabolzano and Collalbo every 30 minutes. From Collalbo station, the village center—where the Christmas market takes place—is just a short walk away.
To visit the stalls set up at Maso Plattner in Costalovara, simply get off at the Costalovara stop of the Renon Train: from there, the Beekeeping Museum and the market are about a 5-minute walk away.

Where can buses park?
Buses may load and unload passengers at the Zentral parking area (Collalbo). From there, the Christmas market in the center of Collalbo can be reached in just two minutes on foot.
Buses must then park in Longomoso (near the Earth Pyramids) or at the parking area near the associations' building in Longomoso.
In Soprabolzano, there are no maneuvering areas or parking spaces for buses. For this reason, the village cannot be reached by large buses. Parking is available in Costalovara.
