Beyond the Peaks

Event date from: 02-10-2026 to: 11-10-2026

Beyond the Peaks brings to Belluno the story of the mountains through meetings, books, cinema, music and art. Created to explore the relationship between man and the alpine environment, the festival promoted by the Municipality of Belluno brings together every year protagonists of culture, mountaineering and research, offering a broad perspective on the many dimensions of mountains: from nature to adventure, from travel to discovery, to dialogue and sharing.

Beyond the Peaks: books, cinema, music and art

The program spans literature, cinema, music and art, with meetings dedicated to mountains and adventure. A path that brings together different experiences and languages, telling both the exploits on the peaks and the relationship between man, nature and territory.

The guests of Beyond the Peaks

Over the years the festival has welcomed important protagonists of mountaineering, culture, science and art. Among these Walter Bonatti, Mario Rigoni Stern, Reinhold Messner, Gino Strada, Riccardo Cassin, Paolo Rumiz, Manolo, Erri De Luca, Adam Ondra, Marco Paolini, Mario Brunello, Fosco Maraini, Mauro Corona, Nives Meroi, Luca Mercalli, Enrico Camanni, Hans Kammerlander, Vito Mancuso, Denis Urubko, Carlo Petrini, Stefano Mancuso, Hervé Barmasse and Marco Albino Ferrari.

Such a heterogeneous presence reflects the identity of Beyond the Peaks: the mountain as a place of adventure, culture, research, dialogue and sharing.

The seven souls of the mountain

The festival tells the story of the mountain through seven dimensions: Nature, Adventure, Travel, Frontier, Discovery, Introspection, Dialogue and Sharing. Themes that allow us to look at the peaks not only as destinations, but as places of experience and knowledge.

Beyond the Peaks and the sustainability of the Dolomites

Among the central themes of the festival is also environmental and tourism sustainability. The Dolomites, recognized in 2009 as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, are an extraordinary but fragile heritage.

The festival contributes to promoting greater awareness of the value of these territories and the need to know them, respect them and protect them. In this sense, Beyond the Peaks also becomes an opportunity to reflect on the future of mountains and how we can experience them in a more responsible way.
