On Sunday, 12 September 2027, the historic town centre of Sterzing comes alive with one of South Tyrol's most beloved culinary traditions: the dumpling. From 11 am to 6 pm, the traditional Dumpling Festival invites visitors to enjoy regional specialities, live music and local folklore in a festive late-summer atmosphere.
The highlight of the event is an impressive 400-metre-long communal table, stretching through the New Town, Old Town and Town Square, with views towards Monte Cavallo, the mountain overlooking Sterzing. Along the way, visitors can discover a wide variety of dumplings prepared with traditional recipes and local ingredients.
From hearty speck dumplings and cheese dumplings to fragrant mushroom and herb varieties, as well as pressed dumplings, there is something to suit every taste. Those with a sweet tooth can look forward to apricot, nougat and ricotta dumplings, offering a delicious finale to this culinary journey.
Regional food is accompanied by musical performances and traditional folk dancing, creating a lively atmosphere that celebrates South Tyrolean culture and hospitality.
