At Plan de Corones, at an altitude of 2,265 m, you will find LUMEN – Museum of Mountain Photography, the museum dedicated to mountain photography.
A former upper station of the Plan de Corones cable car, it has been transformed into a 1,800 sqm museum featuring a 200-seat conference hall and an extraordinary panoramic restaurant led by the renowned Michelin-starred South Tyrolean chef Norbert Niederkofler.
A journey rediscovering the mountain and its many facets through images, objects, mirror installations and virtual reality. Visitors are immersed in a holistic experience that brings them closer to the nature of the Dolomites.
A one-of-a-kind project with an unparalleled view of the Dolomites, designed by architect Gerhard Mahlknecht. The exhibition design is curated by Giò Forma and the working group composed of Beat Gugger, Martin Kofler, Richard Piock and Manfred Schweigkofler.
At LUMEN, there is also a section dedicated to the history of photography, from its beginnings to the present day, illustrating photographic techniques and the study of light, with displays ranging from vintage cameras to the latest digital models, where pixels play a fundamental role.
