A spectacular route that crosses some of the most iconic places in the Val di Fassa, moving through glacial valleys, panoramic mountain passes and ancient high‑altitude trails.
Route description
From Rifugio Contrin, follow trail 608, which climbs gently up the valley and reaches the evocative San Nicolò Pass in about an hour, dominated by the refuge of the same name. From here, the view opens onto the ridges separating Val di Fassa from the Ciampac group.
Continuing to the right, trail 613 leads across high‑mountain terrain, first reaching Forcia Neigra and then the panoramic Sella Brunech, an exceptional viewpoint over the surrounding Dolomites. The descent that follows drops into the wide Ciampac basin, a green plateau also accessible by the cable car down to Alba di Canazei.
From the valley station, the route continues along trail 602, which enters the forest and joins trail 605. This final section climbs steadily towards the imposing Fedaia Pass, at the foot of the Marmolada, where the landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic.
