Starting from the Heubad Hotel in Fiè, renowned for its traditional hay baths, a pleasant trail leads through historic farmsteads and well‑kept meadows. The route passes the Moar, Rungger, Zimmerlehen and Kreiter farms, gradually entering a cool forest of spruce and Scots pine. After about 45 minutes you reach the enchanting Fiè Lake, one of South Tyrol’s most beloved natural spots.
From Fiè Lake to Malga Tuff
Skirting the upper lake, follow trail no. 1, which soon leaves the forest road and becomes a narrower, more characteristic mountain path. The route climbs gently through clearings and stone‑paved sections until it reaches the panoramic Malga Tuff, beautifully framed by woods and pastures at the foot of the Sciliar.
Towards Hofer Alpl
Continuing along trail no. 1, you pass a clearly visible crucifix and climb alongside the Rio di Fiè, through a shaded forest where branches are draped with long lichen beards. At the next junction, take trail no. 3, following the sign for Hofer Alpl. A short ascent along a forest road reveals the roof of the hut between the treetops, and a small path leads down to the picturesque refuge.
Hofer Alpl: a charming mountain hut beneath the Sciliar
The Hofer Alpl hut is an ideal place for a break: authentic atmosphere, traditional cuisine and a splendid view of the surrounding peaks. From here, you can return to Fiè or continue towards other routes in the Sciliar–Catinaccio Nature Park.
