The hike to Kofler am Kofl starts from the northern edge of the sunny village of Falzes and is recommended for nature lovers with a bit of training. The route follows trail no. 17, which climbs steadily through the forest. After about one hour of walking and nearly 500 meters of elevation gain, you reach the mountain inn Kofler am Kofl (around 1,480 m), accompanied by a charming alpine chapel. From the terrace, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Plan de Corones, the Puster Valley, and the surrounding Dolomite peaks.
The return can be made along the same trail, but there are interesting alternatives. One option is to descend via trail no. 18, which leads to the bus stops “Ladestatt,” “Rohrer,” or the Town Hall in the center of Falzes. Alternatively, just above the inn you can take the Koflsteig (no. 18), which leads to Plata in about 50 minutes. From there, the path descends back to Falzes, first across open meadows and then through the forest along trail no. 19.
The direct route from Falzes to Kofler am Kofl is about 2.5 km long, with an average duration of 1h30 and an elevation gain of 360–500 m, depending on the chosen variant. It is classified as an intermediate hike, suitable for those with some training who are looking for a short but scenic excursion.
